Designs:Although the official designs are not released, leaked pictures of LG G3 show a larger back portion compared to the G2. The rear design is similar to the previous version; however, the polycarbonate portion is replaced with different shades of metal. The brushed aluminum finish is attractive and this could be available in different shades, a strategy made popular by Apple last year. The back plate and batteries can be removed or replaced, which makes it more convenient. A Korean website showed a G3 with a white plastic rear panel with volume buttons, flash, camera lens on one side and a sensor on the other. The front side consists of a flat screen without any hardware buttons.
Colors: LG is currently offering gold, silver and charcoal colors. Samsung and HTC have released non-metallic colors but LG hasn’t revealed about this feature. It appears that LG is trying to maintain a premium look and feel using metallic colors. Whether non-metallic colors will be offered or not is yet to be seen.
Camera: The camera in G3 looks similar to LG G Flex. Industry sources say that the 13 megapixel sensor could be just above the rear key and help achieve greater detail and improve accuracy of light. Some people expect LG to launch a 16 megapixel version in order to maintain a lead over the Galaxy S5. The flash is expected to have capabilities for multiple color temperature and levels of brightness. The sensor appears to be a good feature to handle low-light photography, which Apple and HTC have recently used. If the camera lives up to its expectations this could be a great value-add to the G3.
Waterproofing: LG may introduce this feature in G3 and it appears they are working on a technique to keep the phone dry. This essential feature makes the phone capable of handling water or wet stuff. The timing of the launch event is also well planned to get a first mover advantage against Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8. Given the huge popularity of G2 and greater anticipation for the G3, it appears that G3 could see a bigger success than previous versions.
